3 Sales & Marketing lessons I learnt from observing Pete Buttigieg’s 2020 presidential campaign

Get the message out to…

Send a message to every…

Pete Buttigieg (from watching his speeches, interviews, and debates) taught me three important lessons that strengthened my sales and marketing practices for my B2B software business. The lessons are:

1. Crystal Clear Message

From my understanding, Pete’s message is on unity. Nothing convoluted; very clear message. His message is deeply focused on Unity: his country’s unity, his nation’s unity, his people’s unity, and his party’s unity.

2. To All My Prospects

Pete used his time and energy to get his message out to all eligible voters in his country. This is a reminder for me that I need to use my time and energy to get my message out to all of my prospects.

3. Reiterate My Message

Pete reiterated his message on unity at his Speeches, Interviews, and Debates (SID). After watch many of his SID, his message on unity is so deeply ingrained by now.

So no matter how many times I reiterate my message, don’t feel bored, just keep to it.

In short, here is what I learnt for my B2B software business:

This is aligned with the concepts (based on my interpretation) from my favourite sales book: Fanatical Prospecting: The Ultimate Guide to Opening Sales Conversations and Filling the Pipeline by Leveraging Social Selling, Telephone, Email, Text, and Cold Calling.

Love writing my thoughts, reading biographies, and meeting like-minded friends to talk on B2B software sales, engineering & cloud solution architecture.
